Bone broth can be reheated in a microwave, and there are some recipes where bone broth can be made in the microwave. So, YES, bone broth can be microwaved.

There are various opinions on whether or not the nutritional value of food is affected by using a microwave. This is up to your discretion, but it is certainly not unsafe to microwave bone broth.

We have provided instructions for reheating bone broth in the microwave. Some bone broth is already packaged in a microwave-safe container and will be clearly marked. You can follow the instructions on the container in that case.

Instructions for Reheating Bone Broth in the Microwave

  1. Pour bone broth into a microwave-safe dish and cover. The dish should allow extra room so that the liquid cannot spill over the sides when you are moving the dish. In some cases, the broth may have gelled, which is fine- it will heat and liquify. If it has gelled, simply scrape it into the microwave-safe dish and cover it. Place the dish in the microwave.
  2. The amount of time it takes to reheat the broth will depend upon the amount of bone broth being microwaved. We recommend starting with heating the broth on high for one to two minutes. If the bone broth is frozen, it will generally require doubling the amount of microwaving time.
  3. Stir the broth and then microwave for an additional 30-45 seconds, as needed, until heated to the desired temperature. Use caution when removing the broth from the microwave. We recommend using hot pads to avoid burning your hands.
