If you have stumbled upon this article, it means you may be wondering if it is safe to microwave silicone. The answer to that question is yes; you can, in fact, microwave silicone.

It is safe to microwave silicone since it is heat resistant and does not contain harmful toxins, unlike most plastics. Silicone can even be placed in the oven or the freezer and can be washed in the dishwasher.

Ways to Use Food-Grade Silicone

You will have to be sure your silicone dishes are made of 100% food-grade silicone because if there are any fillers in your silicone bakeware, it could compromise their durability of them.

Also, food-grade silicone should not leach harmful chemicals into the foods you are cooking.

Silicone cookware can withstand extremely high amounts of heat, making them great for use in the microwave or the oven.

You could also take the silicone straight out of the freezer and pop it directly into the microwave and not need to worry about damaging your dish, unlike with plastic or glass, which would most likely break.

It is more common to use silicone cookware in the oven than in the microwave, as a lot of bakers use silicone baking molds to make removing baked goods easier than if using glass or metal pans.

So, if you are baking cakes, muffins, or bread, silicone is a fantastic product to use due to its flexibility and non-stick properties.

You can place your silicone dishes directly onto the rack in your oven, but most cooks and bakers don’t do this because the food would be harder to remove from the oven as the silicone dish is very flexible.

It is best to use a cookie sheet under your silicone bakeware to keep whatever you are cooking stable before and after cooking.

After reading this article, I think we can all agree that microwaving silicone is a lot safer than microwaving plastic.
