Roll of paper towels on brown table.

Yes, you can, indeed, microwave paper towels. There are some different reasons to microwave paper towels. For instance, you can put food on paper towels to wick away the grease from your food, or you can wet some paper towels, then place them in the microwave and heat them, and it will loosen all the gunk in your microwave.

Ways To Use Paper Towels In The Microwave:

You can use soaked paper towels to clean off all the stuck-on gunk in your microwave. This method is super simple, and it only takes a few minutes. This method does not require any significant scrubbing or chemicals as long as your microwave is not extremely dirty.

Here are the steps to clean your microwave with paper towels:
Soak a wad of paper towels in plain water, then wring them out lightly.

Place the soaked wad of paper towels directly on the turntable in the middle of your dirty microwave.

Three rolls of paper towels on pink cloth pad on kitchen table.

Set the microwave for 1-3 minutes and press start.

After the timer goes off, leave the microwave closed for up to 10 minutes to let the steam break all the gunk loose.

Open the microwave and check to make sure the paper towels are not too hot.

Use the paper towels to wipe down the turntable and the insides of the microwave, including the door.

After the microwave is clean, you can either leave the door open so the microwave can dry out or dry it with some dry paper towels.

If you feel like your microwave is not quite clean using just the paper towels and water, you can wipe it down with a little hot soapy water to ensure it is sparkly clean. This is my preferred method to clean the microwave at home.

There is an exceptionally long list of frozen food items like frozen fries or frozen crab legs that recommend microwaving the product using paper towels to either ensure the food cooks evenly or keep grease and excessive moisture off your food.

When microwaving food, only use plain white paper towels as the designs from the printed ones can transfer to your food, or worse, the designs on the paper towels could cause them to catch on fire due to the materials in them!

Always remember, it is best to use plain white paper towels if you are going to use them in the microwave.
